My name is Aleena and I am a 28 year old wife and mama to three beautiful Ethiopian children, ages 4, 7, and 11! Adoption has been my lifelong dream but I never imagined just how full my heart could be until we officially welcomed our two sweet daughters and our handsome little son into our family. I love Jesus and my faith is the center of my life. I am passionate about traveling to new parts of the world, experiencing new cultures, and meeting different kinds of people. I grew up in the mountains of Washington State and currently live in Minnesota. I have a love for the outdoors, hiking, camping, and being around water. I'm also an avid coffee drinker! I went to college and got my bachelors in Spanish (let's be honest...I went to college because I felt like that's what I was "suppose to do", but I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life. I chose Spanish simply because it would allow me to do a couple of study abroads! Yay for travel!!). Never in a million years did I think I would become a health and fitness coach!
The meal plan and portion control containers that came with 21 Day Fix were really what drew me in to the program. At the time when I contacted my coach to get signed up, we were on a super strict budget saving money for the adoption and our gym membership didn't make the budget cut. I decided to join as a coach so that I could help pay for my own program and Shakeology by helping a few other people get started on this program with me. It was a win-win situation in my eyes...make a little money AND get in better shape. I realized that I had nothing to lose, so I took a chance on myself and I joined the team.

Let me take you back a little bit to my life leading up to that day. For as long as I can remember, I struggled with my body image. Comparison was truly the thief of my joy! I tried everything to get the body I wanted and to find confidence in myself. You name it, I probably tried it...weight watchers, pills, anorexia, bulimia, and the list goes on. I wanted to be healthy and happy, and I was willing to work hard for it, but my nutrition was seriously out of control! I was a total sugar-addict. I didn't like to workout, but I was willing to do it. I use to think that as long as I put in my time at the gym, I could eat whatever I wanted. What I've learned now that I didn't know then was that you can never outwork a bad diet. What you eat is 80% of the battle, and that's where I desperately needed help!
